Walking next to the mini-train

One of the regional parks in our area has a little train that runs a 1-mile loop in the park. They decorate it seasonally and it recently took on it’s harvest look. There was also a pumpkin patch so the place was filled with kids that day. Walking by the tracks as the train went by got me lots of waves and smiles and even a blown kiss from a cutie dressed as a bee!

This is an entry for Becky’s November Squares.

Quiet reflection moments

Quiet reflection moments

Cemetery-1030302

When I need a quiet place just to think and reflect, I find myself drawn to the beauty and peace of a cemetery. Far from being spooky, I find them places of beautiful sculpture that I find calming. In our older cemeteries, they are filled with the names of people no one now remembers or even knew. But I know they too had their struggles, hope, dreams, and challenges. This is a reminder to me that whatever is bothering me will eventually pass. Life goes on for me, for now. And I must seize the moments I have.

Old Colorado City

We visited Old Colorado City, a part of Colorado Springs, this month. It’s an old west style town with lots of character and charm. We had a delicious dinner at the Italian Bistro Paravicini’s; I highly recommend it. After dinner, we walked the town and enjoyed the charm of it all.

Goldfield Ghost Town

Goldfield Ghost Town

We visited this great old mining town in Apache Junction AZ as the sun was setting. The hills were ablaze and the town charming. Unfortunately, everything was closed up for the day; so it is definitely a place to revisit. The website is at http://goldfieldghosttown.com/ for more information. The amount of old equipment on display was incredible; I found it all fascinating.

Pointy Ears and Long Tails

Gabby_ (6)I find cats to be so engaging and endearing. They have standoffish ways and I don’t like their sharp teeth and claws but still, I love seeing them.

Over the last six months, a neighbor’s cat befriended us. She would look for us as we took our periodic walks and herd us over to her favorite territory. We’ve spent a whole lot of time sitting on the cold winter sidewalk petting, hanging out together and listening to her purr.

She (with her family) moved last month and although I do not miss the fur on my hands & face and in my nose, I do miss those pointy ears and her thumping tail.
